Community-led plans for a new homes, landscaped public open space and a new GP surgery for Hindon

The Hindon Neighbourhood Plan was recently “made” having been passed by the community at a Referendum in May 2021. It now forms part of the Development Plan for the area and will guide how the village will develop over the coming years. It included the allocation of this site at East Street/Chicklade Road to deliver a development of new homes and a much-needed new GP surgery to replace the existing surgery, delivering modern, fit-for-purpose primary care facilities for Hindon and its hinterland.

The site is allocated under Policy 3 of the Neighbourhood Plan and a copy of the Plan can be viewed and downloaded here: https://www.hindonvillage.org/neighbourhoodplan.htm

Family-owned house builder, C G Fry and Son Ltd, has been working closely with the village’s Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group throughout the production of the plan. With the plan now “made", C G Fry has prepared a full planning application guided by Policy 3 and other policies in the plan to include:
  • 31 high-quality family homes, including 12 affordable homes enabling those who might otherwise struggle to live in Hindon, for example young families with local connections, to settle in the village
  • A modern new GP surgery, enabling the local GP practice to relocate from its current premises, which is no longer fit for purpose.
  • Landscaped public open space to protect and enhance the setting of the ridgeway
  • A design approach which will enhance the eastern gateway to the village while protecting key views such as that of the church tower.
  • A package of improvements to pedestrian links between the village and site, improving the public footpaths HIND6 and HIND30 to enhance accessibility for pushchairs, wheelchair users and mobility scooters.
We established this consultation website prior to the planning application being submitted, to provide information about C G Fry’s emerging development proposals, which have been guided by the village’s own Neighbourhood Plan, and to provide an opportunity for members of the community to provide your feedback comments. These comments were then taken into account when we finalise the plans for the planning application.

In addition to the online consultation, we also held a feedback event at Hindon Village Hall in September 2021, providing an opportunity for the community to drop-in and view the plans and meeting members of the project team, including representatives from C G Fry and Son Ltd and Hindon Surgery.

Update - Planning application submitted

Following consultation with the community both on this website and at the drop-in event at Hindon Village Hall, a full planning application was submitted to Wiltshire Council in the Autumn of 2021.

The planning application is in full accordance with the Development Brief for the site as set out in Hindon’s Neighbourhood Plan, adopted following a local referendum in May 2021.

The pre-application consultation materials remain available to view on this website. However, do note that following consultation with the community, as well as statutory consultation with technical consultees following the planning application submission, some minor amendments have been made to the layout details. The planning application documents are available to view on Wiltshire Council’s website.
